“Wife of former Annapolis mayor chronicles her son’s struggle with opioids,” Fox 45 News
The Annapolis mother of a son who was addicted to opioids has written a book entitled “Secret no More” about how the struggle impacted her entire family.
Lisa Hillman says she was first alerted to the problem by a high-school teacher who said her son Jacob “was hanging out with the wrong crowd.”
Hillman said: “Alcohol, high school, beer, wine – I’m thinking, ‘That’s normal; all kids do that.'”
Hillman then received a phone call during her son’s senior week trip to a North Carolina beach informing her that Jacob had been arrested for possession of drugs.
“My heart dropped to my feet and we raced to North Carolina, and the story goes on from there.”
